The Challenge
A French multinational corporation wanted to develop a smart camera for the consumer market. The camera had to be truly "plug and play": plug it in, open the app, and it works. No complicated network configuration, no port forwarding, no IT knowledge required.
The technical challenge: a camera that works behind any router and still streams live video to a smartphone.
Our Solution
We developed a complete smart camera platform, from the hardware concept to the mobile apps:
Smart Hardware
The camera was designed with special capabilities:
- Motion detection built directly into the camera
- Powerline communication: networking over the power line
- No separate network cabling needed
STUN Technology
For real-time video transmission, we implemented STUN protocols:
- Direct connection between camera and app
- Works behind NAT and firewalls
- Low latency for live streaming
Multi-Platform Access
Three ways to see the live image:
- Web interface: access from any browser
- iOS app: native app for iPhone and iPad
- Android app: native app for Android devices
Cloud Management
A database for central management:
- User accounts and permissions
- Camera registration and management
- Over-the-air firmware updates
International Team
For this global project, we led a 10-person team distributed around the world.
